JURIST IS UNIQUE

JURIST has been the world’s only law school-based news service for more than 20 years and has won multiple awards, including a 2006 Webby. We believe that promoting a broader public understanding of law encourages civic engagement and fosters stronger and more inclusive societies. JURIST’s law student volunteers gain valuable educational experience researching, analyzing and reporting on the latest legal developments while cultivating habits of unselfish public service that influence their professional careers.

JURIST uses the latest Internet technology to track important legal developments and rapidly reports legal news in an objective and accessible style. We strive to provide an even balance of US and international coverage.

JURIST is completely free. Our content is open and accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. We will never put registration or subscription barriers in your way.

LEGAL NEWS AND COMMENTARY

In addition to legal news, JURIST publishes commentary and opinion analyzing important legal issues and developments. Solicited and edited by JURIST’s staff, these articles are written by legal scholars, policymakers, activists, and law students from around the world.

FUNDING AND SUPPORT

JURIST currently receives funding from three major sources. The University of Pittsburgh School of Law funds JURIST’s news director and provides a workspace for our professional and volunteer staff based in Pittsburgh. Justia gives JURIST invaluable technical and financial support. Other sustaining donations come from readers like you.
